Age requirement: Kindergarten applicants must be five years old on or before December 2nd to be eligible for enrollment in the school year for which they are applying.
School tours are given at 9:00 A.M. During the tour you will visit classrooms, review curriculum, and see students and programs in action. Both parent and applicant participate in the tour. Select extension 117 when you call to schedule a tour.
Application, Application Fee, and Report Cards
Before a student visit will be scheduled, we must receive the Application for Admission, the Application Fee of $50.00, and copies of the applicant’s report cards for the last two years in addition to this year’s most recent report card. If the application is for Kindergarten, submit copies of summaries or progress reports. The Application Fee is not refundable.
Visits are from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Please register for a visit day early, as available days are limited. The applicant will attend classes at his/her grade level. Kindergarten applicants will visit in the Kindergarten classroom and participate in activities at Kindergarten and pre-school level. Throughout the visit, we observe each applicant’s response to the activities at Canterbury.
Give the Confidential Teacher Recommendation form to the applicant’s current teacher. Also, provide a stamped return envelope. Recommendations are confidential and must be mailed directly from the teacher to Canterbury School. Faxed copies are not accepted. We will send an acknowledgement of receipt directly to the teacher.
Once we have received the Confidential Teacher Recommendation, you may schedule a testing date. Complete the testing application form and return it with the non-refundable $50.00 testing fee. You will receive a confirmation with the date and time for the testing. Applicants are expected to be functioning at or above grade level in the basic curriculum subject areas.
Return the School Policy with the non-refundable $200 Registration Fee. The policy and fee must be returned within one week to reserve the open space for your child.
